The Song and Dance Group ?Żeńcy Wielkopolscy? was founded in 1982 by the Zespół Szkół Rolniczych in Nietążkowo ( currently Jan Kasprowicz Zespół Szkoł Ponadgimnazjalnych) whose founder and manager in 1982-1993 was Eugeniusz Kurasiński. Rafał Rosolski has been the manager and the instructor of the group from 1993. In the first years the group presented traditional customs of the Wielkopolska region (Podkoziołek, Darcie pierza, weddings) for what it received many awards and honourables. The group safeguards traditions of the Polish folk culture, in particularly of the Wielkopolska region. From 1996 the group has been the member of the Polish section of C.I.O.F.F.

The group has given concerts in Germany, Slovakia, France, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Hungary, Holland, Denmark and Greece.

The Song and Dance group ?Żeńcy Wielkopolscy? is run by Jan Kasprowicz Zespół Szkół Ponadgimnazjalnych in Nietążkowo.

There are also several other institutions which take care of the group, Centrum Kultury in Śmigiel, Municipal Council in Śmigiel, Starostwo Powiatowe in Kościan as well as, founded in 2004, The Association of the Żeńcy Wielkopolscy Folklore Enthusiasts.
